I missed you too!
I feel like I owe you an explanation of having been busy running around and working on some exciting secret projects, but the truth is something far from exciting. It includes daycare germs, everyone being sick one by one, week after a week - and a lot of work piling up. The work itself is truthfully being very exciting but having time and energy only for the bare minimum really puts you down. But here I am, back wondering what should I wear while contemplating on if I should spend my time thinking about what to wear.
Pregnancy and becoming a mother shaped attitude towards dressing up quite a bit, even my style has never been very dramatic, but after being limited with outfit choices for a long period of time, I started to reflect more on things that I like - if I like something because I saw it on social media vs what I truly like. I’ve always been a safe dresser and loved the idea of uniform dressing to save time and thoughts for “more important things”. You all know the story of Steve Jobbs only wearing turtle necks and Levi’s so he wouldn’t have to use his precious capacity of making decisions on what to wear. Lately I’ve been thinking about that a lot, questioning why should life be that serious - I don’t want to rip off all the fun from life and prioritize productivity. It’s completely fine - I would say recommendable - to do things just for the sake of fun.

That being said, as I’ve been trying to incorporate more fun into my life, here’s what I’ve been wearing lately;
Toteme tinted sunglasses
It’s been forever since I bought something new, meaning not second-hand. I got so excited about the tinted lenses but hesitated for weeks if I should choose a classic lense instead. If I get bored and stop wearing them etc. I’m so glad I went with my first instinct, the glasses have been glued to my face since getting them. The style is Classics, colour Umber.
Studded babouche flats
Second best purchase lately has been the very Khaite-like studded babouches I found from Vinted for 5 euros. They have no brand marked anywhere so this is not really a recommendation, just congratulating myself for a great find.
Fringed suede overshirt
This particular piece brings me back so many memories. I found the men’s suede shirt from a thrift shop 10 years ago, when I had just moved to Paris. And then I sat on my tiny (less than 10sqm tiny) apartment floor, measuring and cutting the fringes. And I wore it ever since every summer.
Long coats
Weather it was winter or summer, coats swiping the floor are my go to pieces. My beloved maxi corduroy coat had to move over for a Dagmar long blazer I got few weeks back. I had been eyeing the Dagmar coat for ages but never got it due to the price increases, so when I found it from Vinted in great condition and with a fraction of the price (110€), how could I not!
I have been thinking a bit to which direction I want to take this substack and the truth is, I have no idea.
So bare with me being very inconsistent, I promise it will be fun.
xx Noora
